Been wanting to try this place out when I saw it on Christmas Day when I was there with my friend for a movie but my friend didn't seem keen and decided to go for the safe choice of Wong Kok Char Chan Teng instead.

Imagine to my surprise when I chance upon the name in my book of "to try" places that I write down occasionally for ideas on where to eat and quickly took upon the opportunity to head on down there to savor what awaits me there. Puchong is not exactly a pleasant place for me to venture to since I have to pass through a toll where the fee has risen and the jam is normally a killer if it's on a weekday peak hour. Although this was on a Sunday that I ventured to, there's still the 50 percent chance of a jam occurring even though it's a weekend.

Anyway, the good thing about Setiawalk is always the ample parking place that they have. There's never a time where I'm unable to find a parking and since it's a Sunday afternoon, it's very easy to locate one near to an elevator to go up upon as well! I headed straight on to the place since I already knew where it is when I was there to try TiPsy Brew O'Coffee and pick up movie tickets.

For the many times that I saw Porcupine having a lot of customers, today's the day that I don't see it as that crowded and was pleased that there's ample space for me to select from. I entered in and was immediately greeted by someone behind the counter. I chose to sit somewhere closest to the door because that's where you get the most sunlight. I look at their detailed menu that goes the typical clipboard approach and saw that they sell alcohol as well with the sophistication of wine and imported beers. As tempting as that may be, I refrain from the alcohols and proceeded with an Americano instead. For their food, in addition to salads and pastas, they're also in the complication of fancy dishes as well such as the steaks and the one that I ordered, roulade. I was wondering how good they will be in producing fine dining restaurant quality since they've got the guts to put such items in their menu.

The Americano arrived at a moderate wait pace and it came with a very small cookie. Despite being an Americano, it was very strong in it's bitterness and the aftertaste lingers on exceptionally long. No wonder the guy asked me on whether I'd like it with sugar syrup. Usually, I would take my coffee black but this calls for some sugar syrup to be added together. I couldn't withstand the wrath of the coffee's bitterness.

The Roasted Fowl Roulade took quite a wait before it was brought over to me. At first sight, the plating don't look bad. In fact, it surprised me that the roulade does seemed like a main as they wanted it to be. There were loads of ingredients on the plate where the mushrooms covered most of the roulade and a mold of pilaf rice. The pilaf rice was fragrant and aromatic with a pleasing sensation to mouth it even by itself. The puree like tomato stuff at the side didn't do much on the improvement of taste but does provide aesthetic value to the dish. The Chicken Roulade wrapped with smoked bacon but didn't had the smoky taste that I so desire out of the Pork Bacon. It tasted mostly of the freshness of pork and it's as if it's just cured bacon instead of smoked, a tad overwhelming in that taste for me. I'd prefer a little simmer on my bacon with some crispiness coupled with the chewiness on the inner side. The chicken that makes up the roulade when it's wrapped with the bacon is moist and tender and very nice in it's taste. Full of the creamy sauce that coats it and pleasing to my palate. I never thought I'd say this but this is the one time where I favor the chicken meat over the pork bacon.

The owners of the place were there emitting some joy pumped into the cafe with their bundles of joy (read: children) and while the restaurant manager (of which that guy seemed to be to me) were busy preparing for the Chinese New Year cookies. The place feels a tad bit cramp to me because there seems to be a lot of things and clutter in it but the lighting was good and bright enough no matter where you sit. The staffs were well trained and can easily answer any questions you have about the food and were very attentive and courteous. 2 of them seems to be local Malaysians while the rest looks foreign. The place ran liked a well oiled machinery with no hiccups as far as I can see. The kitchen staff that I can see peering through the serving window seemed to enjoy their work very much in there and knows exactly what to do with everything under control and smooth.

Total Wallet Damage:
In total it costs RM41.80. There's a 10% service charge imposed but no 6% GST mentioned. RM9 for my coffee and RM29 for the roulade.

Final Verdict:
7/10. Great job on training their staff where the owners do not need to do anything at all. The staffs' knowledge on their food were excellent and can easily and confidently answer any questions posed in addition to being helpful and attentive too.
