It's a very hot hot Sunday and all I want to do was get out of the burning heat and into an air conditioned place pronto.

Having just tasted why Anuar's Fish Head Curry aka Bangsar Fish Head Corner always garner such incredible crowd response, I was feeling very hot from the humid weather and coupled with the curry and that zinc attap place, I just need some air conditioning unit to cool me down.

Hence I met a nice tranquil place to hideaway called Grind22. This place was a surprise find and quite a hidden gem. It's small shop outlet makes it hard to spot sharing the house lot with the boutique next door which Grind22 is a part of. But make no mistake, although the it may not seemed much from the entrance, once you enter you will be enchanted of how the place is at the back. Over at near the counter area may have some seats there but it looks hot with the sun beaming down upon the glasshouse-like structure of the place. Hence, being at the back is the best choice as it's more shady. I sat directly opposite of the air conditioning unit so the heat weren't so bad at where I was. LOL. Having my appetite whet tremendously from the lunch before, I decided to order the Nutella Chocolate Tart and the 4 mochi balls to go with a latte.

The waiting period for my order was moderate until it arrived. The place have magazines and card games as well. If you wanna play, you're free to do so. But as for me, I just wanna chill and relax. The greenhouse-looking structure together with some greenery around along with the very artsy look of the place, it provided me with a sense of tranquility and calmness and it's easy to get lost in here without ever noticing the time. For me, I just felt so at ease that I was a little hesitant to face the harsh scorching sun outdoors when I've already been there for quite a while. During my time there, there weren't any customer except for a couple who also just walked in at the same time as me, only earlier than me a bit. Other than that, there's practically nobody else around and that also contributed to the calmness of the place with pop songs blaring from the small speakers at the counter. Even the guy who's taking care of the cafe nips out of the place to the boutique area to cool off since in the afternoon, the sun directly hits upon the counter area and I bet it would be hot there.

It's easy to take good pictures here since everything looked so good, even the food and drinks. The skill of the barista was lovely and I had a nice art on my latte. In addition to that, the coffee was nice too which is what my taste buds are usually accustomed to. Ratio of the milk and coffee was near perfect. The recommendation by the barista on the Nutella Chocolate Tart was spot on, it does taste very nice full of that gooey Nutella chocolate spread taste but not at a very sweet level. The tart pastry was dense and thick so cutting on it takes a bit of a workout especially at the end section where the crust was fuller and much thicker.

As for the mochi balls, I find it a little too dear for it's price which is RM2.50 for one. Though they were filled with different fillings, there's not much of difference in telling it apart when you taste it. All just sort of tasted the same with the sticky fillings. The mochi itself is unlike other mochis I know. It's texture is more of like gummy bear and it's not like the sticky substance type that tends to stick to your mouth. I find myself liking this gummy bear texture more as it doesn't leave a dirty feeling in my mouth. But I just felt that it's just not that worth it as the Nutella Chocolate Tart.

After nearly dozing off at the serene place, I decided that it's time to head home to get some shut eyes instead.

Total Wallet Damage:
RM34. RM10 for the Latte, RM14 for the tart and RM2.50 each for the mochi balls. No GST nor service charge incurred.

Final Verdict:
7/10. The ambiance of this place is what I like the most. The coffee is what my taste bud like and the tart was good as well. A good place to escape my worries of life.
