PJ Trade Centre brings a lot of feelings of nostalgia to me. It's been ages since I've been here and everytime I'm here, I'll just be at Ecoba for an event. From Juice Anniversary Party to Digi Party to an outing where I treated my friends to a meal with the voucher I had. Those were some very heartwarming memories which brings a tear to my eyes. I also remember clearly bringing someone to the Hanger party which I had a lot of fun in. Ah, those were the days. And just like how the entire row of restaurants has changed and faded away, so were those glory days.
Walking the familiar pathway just isn't the same anymore. I would usually see the well-lit Ecoba restaurant bringing in a considerable crowd with a Filipino friend of mine working the tables. And now, all is left is the ever quiet and dimly lit, yet tranquil walkway that gives me a feeling of loneliness. It felt as if I was walking among the corridors around wee hours of the morning.
Anyway, I headed on to Talent Lounge and when I arrived at the scene, there was only a family there dining and no other patrons. I walked in and the people in there quickly attended to me as I sat at my desired seat and look through the menu which is another one with clipboard style. The cafe was homely and welcoming. The staff were attentive to me but unfortunately for a couple who walked in after my dinner was served, they were completely missed on two occasions where the guy had to walk up to the counter and serve himself the menu.....twice.
Talent Lounge is a little bit of something all in one. A place to showcase your talent, a talent development centre, a restaurant and also a cafe.
The pasta looks to be inadequate but in the end, proved filling enough for me. The Fettuccine is thinner than I'm used to and I thought nothing of it till only at the end that I realized I did ate Fettuccine and not your normal spaghetti. The taste reminded me of Indomee Goreng Pedas. It was so similar, it's eerie. But of course, this taste is at a much more elevated level. I was expecting hints of spiciness but the scale level of spice in this dish is pretty high. It's still manageable to me. You can see the generous amount of chili flakes along with black pepper sprinkled all around the dish also as decorative pieces. The smoked duck was adequate in taste and juicy enough but could be improved on more. I was surprised at how fast this dish was dispensed to me. It took in just about 5 minutes!
The Honey and Lemon tea is nothing to shout about. It's just your normal Lipton teabag with a slice of lemon and some honey at the bottom which you can make your ownself at home.
Total Wallet Damage:
RM40.60. RM26 for the Smoked Duck pasta and RM9 for the tea with 6% government tax and 10% service charge.
Final Verdict:
7/10. No doubt the place would be best visited on Saturdays because the jam turning into Damansara Perdana is horrendous on peak hours. At night, PJ Trade Centre can be an eerie place to be just like the Immigration department at Pusat Bandar Damansara (not sure if it's still the same there). But PJ Trade Centre looks way more isolated and walking around there feels like you're the only person left in the world there. As for me, it was a good walk down memory lane there but it did make me feel sadder.
