DISCLAIMER: This was not a lone dining experience.

Though I've seen many pictures of this place, I had no idea where it was nor was I aware that there's a cafe called Palladium at the show gallery.

It all started when it was a day off for those in Kuala Lumpur and technically though, it may not be a day off for me, I decided to skip off work and made my way to an event in KL instead. When I was done with the event, I didn't want to waste the day away and decided to try a place that I have not tried yet. For some reason, I started to call a friend of mine to join me on the expedition and she agreed. She recommended on trying this place and that was the first time I actually heard of it.

It's popularized by an artiste's music video and thus bloomed the visits of many to the cafe. When we arrived during the tea break time, there were quite a number of people around with many taking pictures while others sat around and chill. The surrounding place is aesthetically pleasing which to me seems to be the main draw for people towards this place while coffee and cakes take the secondary purpose. The glass house is just a small place that caters for a mere 3 2-seater tables. You can squeeze 3 people per table but that don't leave much room for the walk path. Although they do have a lot of al fresco seatings surrounding the place, you'd have to brave the Malaysian heat or the occasional thunderstorms though. Only inside the glass house where you'll be safe from the harsh weather elements with air condition inside.

After a long period of photo taking around, we entered the place and was lucky enough to chance upon a customer leaving making a table vacant for us. The volume of speech need to be incremented if you want to be heard because there is no bounce of sound off the walls since it's a glass house and the walls seem to absorb the sounds more. I didn't hear my friend asking me what I wanted and she didn't hear me saying what I wanted. LOL. In the end, I ordered separately from her.

Due to it being about to rain, the skies don't look to good from where I see and dark clouds loomed above warning of it's impending rain. The drinks and cakes were quick to be served to us and like everything else around this place, it's serves as a very good eye candy. The latte has a weak coffee taste and strong milk taste. It foams on the top rather quickly which deforms the coffee art in the process. The Palladium Signature Petite is actually a drink consisting of chilled milk with a shot of espresso. The pour into the small containment jar that has a sticker of their cafe name on it was just as pretty as the other things; white milky wall with a brown coffee top. The taste of coffee in this is even weaker than the latte but the chilled milk does put some interesting unique perspective to it's taste. It doesn't really mask the coffee that much but has this less smooth milk texture that combines somewhat pleasantly to the coffee. The downside to this is probably the price of things. It's more expensive than other normal cafes out there.

The cakes weren't as delicious as I would like them to be. It's just average in taste. The Mango Passion has a sweet and sour mixture taste coming from the mango and passion fruit mousse and also from the mango jelly. It makes a tangy taste and the cake itself is soft but full of cream. As for the Opera, the dark chocolate on top is hard and looks like at anytime it can break the flimsy plastic fork provided to eat the cake. Other than that there's a bit of sweetness coming from the chocolate and the nuts provided somewhat of an unneeded crunch (since the top is already so hard). Surprisingly, there were no bitterness from the supposed dark chocolate at all.

When we left, the skies started to have droplets of rain falling but we weren't really soaked with it.

Total Wallet Damage:
Well, I'll tell you on the portion I paid for. The Opera costs RM13.80 including 6% tax and the Palladium Signature Petite costs RM11.65 including 6% GST.

Final Verdict:
8/10. Simply due to it's aesthetic value. That is actually the main draw to this place as much as people wanna complain that it's overrated. The coffee is actually not bad but for me I would prefer a much more stronger coffee taste. Other than the lovely garden-like surroundings which you can effortlessly get a good picture due to it's splendid looks, the cakes aren't that great but the coffee's okay.
